In October 2010, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced a $20M investment in the Next Generation Learning Challenges, an initiative to improve college readiness and completion through technology. The Next Generation Learning Challenges grants are designed to dramatically increase college readiness and completion by fostering the development and adoption of technologies that enable more flexible, high-quality learning experiences for all students. The Next Generation Learning Challenges initiative will rigorously evaluate the effectiveness of technology in learning to help educators and technologists understand the approaches that best help students succeed and why. The program will also create opportunities for innovators, educators, and developers to exchange ideas and collaboratively push the evolving field forward. Come learn about the challenges and the overall grant initiative. Partners in the grant include the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, Educause, the League for Innovation, the Council of Chief State School Officers and the International Association for K-12 Online Learning.
